Hey ladies, Trenace here. I take very seriously the opportunity to pour into your life here at REAL Women. So as a result, I am partnering with the incredibly talented Bathsheba Smithen of Cage Free Voices (who also happens to be my sister) to bring you a new level of community engagement. This year, REAL Women is proud to officially launch real women. Keep reading and get ready! This message is from Bathsheba:

At the age of 18, many of us are ready to escape the clutches of parenthood and its tyrannical reign to embark on a conquest to find the land of

“Do Whatever the Hell I Want.”

By the age of 25, we are either turning up or settling down.

Then age 30 hits and things become really real, very quickly.  We must face the music to our life’s composition—whether it includes building wealth, or a family—that may be just shy of a symphony but definitely out of our control and orchestrated by God.

Either way, whether we have been nurtured by parents or abandoned, the terrain of life can be rather perplexing and difficult to navigate without a MapQuest or Google Maps.  A guide would really come in handy when faced with a foreclosure or eviction notice, accumulating student loan debt, supervisors that are unrealistic, parents that are overbearing and inconsiderate of transition, a dying relative, disintegrating friendships, racism, and/or a broken marriage.   What’s more, is not being able to talk with those who are a bit more mature because they don’t understand the current culture; that things are not what they used to be. Life is different than that of our parents/guardians who raised us.

Because we acknowledge at REAL Women that there are diverse needs of the women we serve, we have decided to launch a real women, young adult sister circle here in the DC Metropolitan area on October 7, 2017. Our goal is provide a safe space for young adult women across the country and abroad to do real work on themselves.

Prior to our launch, we will be holding Facebook Live Sessions once a week for women between the ages of 18-30.  If you are interested in participating, simply request to join our Young Adult real women Community on Facebook and we will be sure to add you to the community.  There you will be able to chat with our facilitator, Bathsheba Smithen, every Sunday at 8 pm, until the launch in October.  Feel free to ask questions, raise concerns, and possible topics we may discuss online.  In doing the live sessions, not only will the facilitator get to know you, but you will have an opportunity to determine if the in-person sister circle is a fit for you.
